THE BAND         

Are we precise and meticulous?   Don't count on it, we're an anti-band lucky to practice twice a year. Fun? Oh yeah! The Large Midgets got started in 2000. After many years of being received with the sound of crickets chirping, three small-town Iowa boys found a new frontman and began tearing through venues, leaving Midget-Mania and cheeseball-covered floors in their wake. Known to bring audiences a mix of rocked-up classics, new hits, hard rock, and Large Midget thongs, the Midgets set the pace for energetic performance, playing something for everyone, and having fun.

The lineup of singer Steve Kappler and guitarist Mike Nurre, anchored by bassist Ken DeKeyser and drummer Pete Wessels bring diverse influences and unique personalities, some multiple, to the stage. The Large Midgets continue to enjoy a busy schedule and packed shows. The band has opened for national touring artists Soul Asylum, .38 Special, Loverboy, and the Rock Never Stops Tour, to name a few.

The Large Midgets strive to inspire our growing group of friends to keep the party rolling... and drink Miller Lite. Because without you, we’re just four guys playing with ourselves…

    Lest we forget about Chongo and Mongo - two bookends who dress alike, dance, sing, take photos, do dangerous stunts, get you fired up, and best of all, load up the gear at the end of the night!
